What is an Apostille?

An apostille (“ah-post-eel”) is a type of document certification accepted as valid in all countries that are party to the Hague Convention. Documents issued by a state (birth certificates, marriage certificates, court documents, etc.) or have been notarized (diplomas, certificates, power of attorney, etc.) must be apostilled by the Secretary of State of where the document was issued. Elite Document provides apostille services for all 50 states, as well as DC and Puerto Rico, and the US Department of State.

What we do?

We can physically present documents to the US Department of State, making the process faster and more secure than mailing them in yourself. Currently the US Department of State walk-in service is taking an average of 3-4 business days for any document to be Apostilled. They are open to the public Monday- Friday from 8am-9am (closed on all federal holidays).

Important Notice for FBI Criminal Background Check Apostille requests:

If you don’t yet have an FBI Background check, you can obtain one from FBI-Approved Channelers– These are agencies that have the authority to provide you with an original FBI report (background check). Contact any of the channelers for further information, you will be working directly with the Channeler to obtain your FBI background check, the average turn-around-time is about 1 to 2 weeks for the channeler to mail the background check to you.

Some channelers are able to e-mail the criminal reports to you, which are also accepted by the U.S Department of State for Apostille/Authentication purposes. However, make sure that printed reports are accepted in the country you will use the FBI background check in.
